Our Heritage

1960

Our founders—brothers Harry, Frank and John Dyck—establish FLOFORM Industries in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1961.

The first FLOFORM Countertops location opens on the corner of St. Mary’s and Oustic Avenue. Seven skilled craftsmen work in the 7,000-square-foot facility.

FLOFORM takes its name from a new countertop technology, “post form laminate,” which it helps pioneer in Manitoba.

1970 - 1980

To keep up with demand and reach western markets, the company builds a new facility in 1974 and relocates to Hamelin Street in Winnipeg. A new logo illustrates FLOFORM’s post forming capabilities.

In the early 80s, FLOFORM expands into Alberta, opening new branches in Calgary and Edmonton.

The company acquires Saskatoon’s Custom Countertops for full coverage in the Prairie Provinces.

1990

Ted Sherritt joins FLOFORM as Vice President of Finance and Administration. He will eventually be named President and CEO.

FLOFORM Countertops undergoes its first major rebrand in 1998 by introducing the purple and green logo featuring the beveled edge finish. The logo and its accompanying tagline “Fee-Fi-Flo-Form, The Giant Difference,” endure for a decade.

2000

FLOFORM enters a period of expansion and growth, bringing new opportunities for our staff and our customers. Ted Sherritt is named CEO when Frank Dyck retires in 2000.

Our product line grows to include Cambria, the #1 quartz brand in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest, as well as brands like Kohler, Artisan Stone and Heritage Wood.

The company acquires Fine Line Pacific of Kent, Washington, expanding the company’s offerings and sparking the company’s second major rebranding effort.

In 2009 FLOFORM increases its geographical footprint by opening branches in British Columbia, first in Vancouver followed closely by Kelowna and Victoria.

In October 2013 FLOFORM acquires Bear Surfaces and opens a new manufacturing facility in Edmonton to supplement recent growth.

Today, more than 50 years after our founding, FLOFORM serves four provinces in Canada as well as the Pacific Northwest of the United States. We remain committed to our tradition of quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service, helping homeowners create kitchens they love.
