Countertop Mixology: Thanksgiving Edition
With Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend, we hope you’re as excited as we are to spend the long weekend with friends and family.
Whether you’re hosting, or are lucky enough to be a dinner guest, we have listed a few delicious cocktails to enjoy with good company. Cheers to warm pie, cold drinks, and the Thanksgiving weekend!
Cranberry Sauce Bourbon Cocktail
Ingredients
2 tablespoons homemade or store-bought cranberry sauce
1 to 2 shots bourbon
Water
1 lemon wedge
Instructions
Add the cranberry sauce to the bottom of a glass along with the bourbon.
Add ice, then fill the remainder of the glass with cold water (or soda water)
Squeeze a lemon wedge into the drink and stir well.
Pumpkin Spiced Apple Cider with Rum Cocktail
Ingredients
For the Cinnamon Simple Syrup:
½ cup Granulated Sugar
¾ cup Water
2 Cinnamon Sticks
For the Cocktail:
4 oz Sprouts Pumpkin Spiced Apple Cider, chilled
3 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Cinnamon Simple Syrup (see notes)
1.5 oz fresh Lemon Juice
Ginger Ale, Chilled
Instructions
Make the Cinnamon Simple Syrup – combine the granulated sugar and water in a medium sauce pan and heat on medium until the sugar dissolves. Add the cinnamon sticks and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks and cool the syrup to room temperature.
Chill two large lowball glasses.
Combine Sprouts Pumpkin Apple Cider, dark rum, cinnamon simple syrup and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake several times until container is ice cold.
Fill the chilled glasses with ice, pour the mixture into the glasses, top with ginger ale and gently stir. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve.
Warm Spiced Cranberry Cider
Ingredients
4 cups water {divided in half}
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons whole cloves
1 tablespoon allspice
3-4 sticks of cinnamon
1 large can pineapple juice
2 cans jellied cranberry sauce
4 cups apple cider
Instructions
In a large pot, simmer brown sugar and 2 cups water
Place spices in a bag or place in pot
Simmer for 10 minutes then bring to boil
Add pineapple juice
Blend cranberry sauce into 2 cups of water and add to mixture
Simmer for 15 minutes
If you don’t add the spices to a bag, you will need to strain the liquid
Add Apple Cider just before serving
Serve with fresh whipping cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon
